The purpose of workshops is to provide a more interactive and focused platform for presenting and discussing new and emerging ideas. The format of paper presentations may include oral presentations, poster presentations, keynote lectures and panels. Depending on the number of presentations, workshops can be scheduled for 1 day or 2 days. All accepted papers will be published in a special section of the conference proceedings book, under an ISBN reference, and on CD-ROM support. All papers presented at the conference venue will be available at the SCITEPRESS Digital Library. SCITEPRESS is a member of CrossRef and every paper is given a DOI (Digital Object Identifier). The proceedings are submitted for indexation by Thomson Reuters Conference Proceedings Citation Index (ISI), INSPEC, DBLP, EI (Elsevier Engineering Village Index) and Scopus.

The workshop aims to bring together researchers, practitioners, system administrators, software developers, and others interested in the latest advances of energy efficient clouds. Special focus will be on novel methods and tools to support software developers aiming to optimise energy efficiency and minimise the carbon footprint resulting from designing, developing, deploying and running software at the different layers of the Cloud computing stack. We call on to researchers and professionals to present their latest work on addressing such related challenges and to share their experiences and best practices in the deployment of such systems. We particularly welcome papers on relevant software engineering approaches and practical guidance on enterprise-wide software deployment in the cloud environment, together with real-world case studies.

A major consideration in designing an efficient and non-polluting real-life system is its flexible availability and adaptability to nature embedding process. Such system we named it “Green Real-life System”. When a component of the system fails, the system reconfiguration is often less than perfect and recovery time is critical. A system level is acceptable when its throughput and nature embedding processes are fulfilled: we call this process an eco-constraint process. New models, nature inspired models, are needed in order to deal with this complex and stringent issue. Our workshop challenges both authors and auditors to reveal the development stage of the social networks and to anticipate theirs future evolution in respect to technological and environment evolution.
