Special Sessions

Special sessions are very small and specialized events to be held during the conference as a set of oral and poster presentations that are highly specialized in some particular theme or consisting of the works of some particular international project. The goal of special sessions (minimum 4 papers; maximum 9) is to provide a focused discussion on innovative topics. All accepted papers will be published in a special section of the conference proceedings book, under an ISBN reference, and on digital support. All papers presented at the conference venue will be available at the SCITEPRESS Digital Library. SCITEPRESS is a member of CrossRef and every paper is given a DOI (Digital Object Identifier). The proceedings are submitted for indexation by The DBLP Computer Science Bibliography, Web of Science / Conference Proceedings Citation Index, Engineering Index (EI), SCOPUS, Semantic Scholar and Google Scholar.

A major consideration in designing an efficient and non-pollution manufacturing system is its flexible manufacturing availability. Such manufacturing system we named it “Green Manufacturing System”. When a machine or any other hardware component of the system fails, the system reconfiguration is often less than perfect. It is shown that, if these imperfections constitute even a very small percent of all possible system faults, the availability of the system may be considerably reduced. A state is operational when its performance is better than a threshold value. In order to calculate the availability of a manufacturing system, its states (each corresponding to an acceptable system level) are determined. A system level is acceptable when its production capacity is satisfied. As a manufacturing system includes a large number of components with failure/repair processes, the system-level discrete event model becomes computationally intractable. New models, nature inspired models, are needed in order to deal with this complex and stringent issue. Our workshop challenges both authors and auditors to reveal the development stage of the social networks and to anticipate theirs future evolution in respect to technological and environmental changes. We deal with a non-classic workshop but an open minded and open discussion, and free debate one.
